In 2001, Hannah’s Off the Square humbly opened its doors to the city of Denton. Now, more than a decade later, Hannah’s has grown along with the town and its people. Once located in a modest building off Hickory Street, Hannah’s is now situated in a historic site that was home to a turn-of-the-century blacksmith business. This original space has helped to inspire an eclectic cuisine reflecting the artistic and imaginative atmosphere of downtown Denton.

Sheena Croft, the Executive Chef and native of the South Georgia and North Florida area, uses her Southern Heritage to bring you what has been called “Upscale Comfort” food. Hannah’s restaurant enjoys working with local farmers, ranchers and businesses, to bring you the best of our bountiful area in North Texas. Fresh locally pastured chicken and eggs, Farmers Market Vegetables, recyclable to-go boxes and a rotating seasonal menu are just a few of the ways we strive to meet our community’s expectations. We are honored to be showcasing more and more of these items on our everyday menu as the Seasons progress.

Inspiration is divined from the unique complement of Hannah’s distinctive menu and diverse wine list. Quality and personality shine through the array of international wine offerings from renowned vintners as well as boutique wineries. Whether you are well versed in the nuances of wine or newly discovering its joys, our knowledgeable staff can guide your palate to the most harmonizing interplay of food and wine.

Hannah's was also chosen for a Wine Spectator's 2011 Award of Excellence which is awarded to select restaunts who offer a well-chosen wineselection from quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.


A native of Southern Georgia, Chef de Cuisine, Sheena Croft, graduated from The First Coast Institute’s Culinary Arts Program in St. Augustine, Florida in 1999. She has been Hannah’s Executive Chef since the restaurant’s inception in August 2001, bringing quality, elegance and variety to Denton’s dining experience.

Her diverse cultural background and Restaurant/Bed and Breakfast experience has shaped her approach to cuisine. Chef Croft embraces traditional Southern and Island inspired dishes, and blends them with regional cooking styles from around the world to create a palate of flavors with culinary distinction that complements Hannah’s eclectic style.

Sheena Croft has been a guest Chef at local Universities and Charities as well as represented Hannah's Off the Square in numerous publications in the Dallas/Fort-Worth Metroplex, including D Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, The Denton Record Chronicle and The Fort Worth Star Telegram. Her delicious and smart cuisine has created a culinary niche in Denton that is positively inspired; come see for yourself!
